Police confirm arrest of Delta varsity undergraduate for k!lling final-year nursing student while learning how to drive

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 100-level female student of Delta State University, Agbor, Precious Nosakaire, for k!lling Awele Agatha Eluemunor, a final-year nursing student of Delta State College of Nursing, Agbor.

LIB reported Nosakairehe, who was learning how to drive, lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a group of pedestrians, resulting in the d3ath of of 23-year-old Awele.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the k!lling to Punch, adding that the suspect had been arrested while her boyfriend had run away.

“Yes, it is confirmed, she k!lled a nursing student while one other is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. We have arrested the young girl but her boyfriend is at large and efforts are ongoing to arrest him,” the PPRO added.

According to a source in the school, the accident occurred on Tuesday, February 18, when the first-year student, who had just begun her studies, was involved in the fatal crash while her boyfriend was teaching her how to drive.

The vehicle veered off the road and hit a group of people at the side of the road, claiming the life of Awele, a nursing student set to graduate in November. Two others are said to be currently in a critical condition at the hospital.

“The girl was learning how to drive when she lost control of the vehicle and hit people. A nursing student died immediately while another lady who is a hairdresser sustained a serious injury,” the source said.

The boyfriend, who owns the car, fled the scene immediately after the accident.

A university management source who did not want to be mentioned confirmed the incident on Sunday but maintained that it did not happen inside the campus but in Agbor town.

“In as much as we condole with the family over the loss, the university does not have control outside the school.

“The incident happened in Agbor town. You know when students close and they leave the campus, we don’t have control over them. Only when they are in the university, you can control them. They live according to the rules and regulations of the university,” the source explained.
