Peter Okoye fires back at brother Jude over 'broke' comment and label fallout
Singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P, has fired back at his elder brother and former P-Square manager, Jude Okoye, in a heated response to a recent social media post that appeared to mock Peter and other former signees of Jude’s record label, including singer Cynthia Morgan.
On June 27, 2025, Jude Okoye took to social media to accuse his ex-label affiliates of greed, claiming they left his platform, went broke, and are now blaming others for their failures. He also alleged he had been wrongly accused of money laundering and declared he would not be blackmailed or pressured.
In a no-holds-barred Instagram post, Peter slammed Jude’s claims and labeled him an Agbaya — a Yoruba term used to describe an older person who behaves immaturely. Peter emphasized that respect is earned, not given, regardless of age or previous associations.
He categorically denied ever depending on Jude, stating that Jude was hired to manage P-Square and was eventually dismissed like previous managers. Peter highlighted that his solo career has brought him more peace, financial success, and professional freedom compared to the days of working under the shadow of a shared brand and fractured loyalties.
One part of his statement read:
“Just because you’re older doesn’t mean you deserve respect. Respect is earned, not given. Calling me broke has always been your wish, even when you made false claims to the EFCC that landed you in prison. Let’s set the record straight — you were never shouldering me. You worked as a manager and got sacked, just like the others before you.”
Peter further hinted at unresolved financial disputes and a pending court case between them, suggesting deeper legal tensions behind their public fallout. He expressed his frustration over always being expected to act maturely while enduring continuous disrespect, concluding that he would now respond to others based on how they treat him.
This latest clash has reignited public attention around the long-standing rift within the Okoye family. Once the powerhouse behind P-Square — one of Africa’s most iconic music duos — Peter, Paul, and Jude Okoye’s relationship has been marred by years of public feuds, split-ups, and reconciliation attempts. As fans continue to weigh in online, the future of any potential reunion looks more uncertain than ever.
