The stage is set, the stakes couldn’t be higher, and the world’s fastest teams are ready to give it their all in the Olympic Men’s 4×100-meter relay final.

This race is poised to be a heart-stopping event, with eight nations taking to the track in a fierce contest of speed, precision, and teamwork.

With the coveted gold medals, national pride, and ultimate bragging rights at stake, powerhouses like the United States, Great Britain, and Japan are gearing up for a spectacular showdown.

Adding to the drama is the unexpected absence of the Jamaican team, marking the first time in 20 years that they won’t be competing in the finals—a major shakeup in the world of sprinting. The much-anticipated final will take place at the iconic Stade de France on Friday, August 9, 2024.

The Jamaican team, despite featuring 100-meter silver medalist Kishane Thompson, stumbled during the crucial second and third baton exchanges, losing the momentum necessary to advance.

Their fourth-place finish in the heat fell short of securing a spot in the final, leaving the door wide open for Team USA, who now stand as the overwhelming favorite for the gold medal.

The Americans dominated their heat, qualifying as the fastest team with a time nearly half a second ahead of their closest competitors. With Noah Lyles, who will compete in the 200-meter final later in the day, rested during the heats, he is almost certain to join the squad for the final, bolstering their chances even further.

Team USA will also be aiming to break a two-decade-long jinx in the Men’s 4×100-meter relay, seeking to win their first medal in the event since clinching silver at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

The countries that have qualified for the final of the Men’s 4×100-meter relay are:

  • USA
  • Great Britain
  • South Africa
  • Japan
  • Italy
  • China
  • France
  • Canada
