Nigerian rap legend Olamide has shared the surprising story behind how Wizkid ended up featuring on Billionaires Club, one of the standout tracks from his latest album, Olamidé.

In a recent interview with media personality Adesope Shopsydoo, Olamide explained that the collaboration was not originally part of the plan. According to him, Wizkid was only meant to appear on the song Kai!. However, while they were filming the video for that track, an unexpected moment sparked something new.

“We didn’t plan it that way,” Olamide revealed. “It was just supposed to be Kai!. While we were on set for the video, I played him a few songs from the album. He liked Billionaires Club and said he wanted to jump on it.”

That spontaneous decision gave fans an extra treat: a second Olamide and Wizkid collaboration on the same project. Featuring British-Nigerian artist Darkoo alongside the two Afrobeats heavyweights, Billionaires Club quickly became a fan favorite. Its music video has since racked up millions of views online, further cementing its status as one of the highlights of the album.

The story underscores the natural synergy between Olamide and Wizkid, whose friendship and creative chemistry stretch back more than a decade. Their bond was first showcased in 2011 with the release of their classic hit Omo To Shan, a song that marked the beginning of a series of iconic collaborations over the years.

Released on June 19, 2025, Olamide’s Olamidé album has been widely praised for its dynamic blend of sounds and genres, while still staying true to the rapper’s signature lyrical depth. Among the many talking points of the project, the surprise Wizkid feature on Billionaires Club continues to stand out as one of the most exciting moments for fans of Nigerian music.
