Olamide and Wizkid unite for new single ‘Kai!’

Nigerian music powerhouses Olamide and Wizkid have teamed up once again for their much-anticipated single, Kai! The track marks Olamide’s second release of the year—following his freestyle Idan Buruku—and serves as the lead single from his upcoming album.

This latest collaboration is their fourth, following fan favorites Omo To Shan (2011), Kana (2018), and Totori (2019). With Kai!, they fuse Olamide’s gritty street-hop energy and Wizkid’s silky Afrobeats finesse into a track that’s poised to become a hit.

Kai! is a vibrant, feel-good Afrobeats anthem driven by an infectious beat. Olamide brings his trademark street flavor with commanding, Yoruba-laced verses as he croons about romance, dubbing himself “Mr Romantic.” Wizkid follows with his smooth, melodic flow, earning praise across social media for what fans are calling a “goated” verse.

Their chemistry is undeniable—Olamide’s assertive delivery and Wizkid’s effortless cool complement each other perfectly, resulting in a rich, replay-worthy jam.

For Olamide (Olamide Adedeji), Kai! reinforces his reputation as a street-hop pioneer with a legacy that spans 10 studio albums and chart-toppers like Infinity featuring Omah Lay. Wizkid adds his international star power to the mix, coming off the release of his 2024 album Morayo and a Grammy nomination for his feature on MMS with Asake.

Their history of hit-making—from Kana’s 8.6 million YouTube views to Omo To Shan’s early impact—sets high expectations, and while some listeners feel Kai! doesn’t eclipse their finest work, it’s a strong entry that celebrates their creative synergy.

As Olamide builds momentum for his next album and Wizkid continues to command a global audience, Kai! stands as a powerful reminder of their lasting influence in Afrobeats—connecting the heartbeat of Lagos with the pulse of the global stage.
