Noni Madueke Explains Why He Left Chelsea for Arsenal After £48.5m Transfer
In a stunning move that’s set to shake up the Premier League, Noni Madueke has officially joined Arsenal from Chelsea in a deal worth £48.5 million, with the total fee potentially rising to over £50 million through performance-related add-ons.
The Gunners confirmed the signing on Friday, July 18, 2025, and Madueke wasted no time in addressing the fans in his first interview as an Arsenal player. Speaking with pride and excitement, the 23-year-old revealed the motivation behind his decision to leave Chelsea for North London.
“To win all the competitions we’re in,” Madueke said confidently. “I feel like we’re definitely capable of doing that. I also want to help the team in every way I can and grow — not just as a player, but as a person too.”
Madueke had been a key part of Chelsea’s squad and even traveled with them to the Club World Cup in the U.S., but left camp ahead of their 3-0 final win over PSG to finalize his move to Arsenal. The winger has signed a five-year contract and will wear the number 20 shirt for the 2025/2026 Premier League season.
Taking to Instagram shortly after the announcement, Madueke wrote:
“Humbled and blessed to be here. Thank you to everyone that made this possible. I can’t wait to get on the pitch and start to repay the faith shown in me. It’s going to be so special.”
Since his arrival from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, Madueke made 92 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 20 goals and playing an instrumental role in their UEFA Conference League victory last season.
His move signals a fresh chapter for both the player and Arsenal, as Mikel Arteta continues to strengthen his squad for a title charge.
