Chelsea Football Club have been among the most active sides in the Premier League during the 2025 summer transfer window, and one of the key names generating headlines is Nicolas Jackson.
The Senegalese international, who has been a regular feature in the Blues’ attack, is now at the centre of transfer speculation following Chelsea’s acquisition of Liam Delap and João Pedro. These new arrivals have increased competition for places in the forward line, prompting rumours of Jackson’s possible departure.
Interest in Jackson has been strong, with several top European clubs reportedly monitoring his situation. However, Chelsea have set a firm asking price of £80 million, a figure influenced by the lengthy period remaining on his current contract.
According to The Athletic, sources within Stamford Bridge indicate that if no deal is finalised before the transfer deadline, Jackson will be reintegrated into Enzo Maresca’s squad. The club are not under pressure to offload him and still value his contribution as a key option for squad depth ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Earlier in the summer, Jackson was tipped for an exit, but the transfer market has since shifted. With forwards such as Benjamin Šeško and Viktor Gyökeres securing moves elsewhere, the pool of potential destinations has narrowed. At present, Newcastle United appear to be the most realistic suitor. The Magpies, having missed out on several attacking targets, may only move for Jackson if their current striker, Alexander Isak, completes a transfer to Liverpool — a move Isak is reportedly eager to make.
Despite the ongoing rumours, Chelsea are far from desperate sellers. While they are seeking to generate additional funds through player sales to facilitate further signings before the window closes, the club remains prepared to retain Jackson if their valuation is not met. In that case, the former Villarreal forward could play a crucial role for the Blues, both as an impact option and as insurance against injuries during a long and demanding season.
