NBA star Marcus Morris Sr. arrested on fraud charge
Marcus Morris Sr., a 13-year NBA veteran, was arrested on a fraud charge in Florida, according to online booking records.
The power forward was taken into custody Sunday in Broward County. Authorities released a mug shot showing Morris with a neutral expression, not smiling for the camera.
Morris played college basketball at the University of Kansas and was the 14th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, selected by the Houston Rockets. He spent two seasons with Houston before playing for several teams including the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Clippers.
He last appeared in the 2023-2024 NBA season, splitting time between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers. Over his career, Morris averaged 12 points and 4.4 rebounds across 832 games.
Morris has faced legal issues before, including entering a diversion program following a 2012 battery charge and being acquitted of assault charges related to a 2015 incident.
