Liverpool Fans Brace for Salah’s Imminent Exit Despite Recent Contract Extension
Liverpool supporters may soon have to come to terms with life after Mohamed Salah, as fresh reports suggest the Egyptian superstar is set to leave the club in 2026, just a year after signing a contract extension.
Salah, who was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia towards the end of the 2024/25 season, ultimately renewed his deal with Liverpool following pressure from fans and negotiations with club management. However, a new report by Football Transfer (Wednesday, August 6, 2025) confirms that the 32-year-old will not see out his full contract, and instead plans to move to Saudi Arabia next summer.
In a previous interview from May 2025, Salah admitted he had been close to joining the Saudi Pro League:
“I thought there was a good opportunity to join the Saudi League. I believed I might go there if I didn’t renew my contract with Liverpool. My relationship with people there is still good and ongoing. There were serious negotiations to sign me. Liverpool fans were part of the contract renewal process—they put pressure on the management because I’ve been at the club for seven years. From day one, I knew they wanted me to stay.”
Unless there’s a dramatic turn of events, Salah will depart Anfield in 2026, ending a legendary spell at the club where he established himself as one of Liverpool’s all-time greats.
