Mohamed Salah gives latest update on his future at Liverpool
The future of Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Salah at Anfield remains a hot topic among the club’s passionate supporters, especially with just six months left on his current contract. Fans are eager for clarity as speculation grows over whether the Egyptian star will extend his stay with the Reds.
Salah was pressed for an update on his future following a stunning performance during Liverpool’s 5-0 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday, December 29, 2024. Despite his remarkable display, Salah revealed that discussions about a contract renewal remain unresolved.
When asked about his plans, Salah emphasized his focus on the team’s ambitions:
“The only thing on my mind is I want Liverpool to win the league and I want to be part of that. That’s the only thing I’ve focused on since the beginning of the season. We are far away from that [any news on contract]. I don’t want to put something in the media and have everyone start talking. My focus is on the team and winning the Premier League.”
For now, Salah’s priority lies with helping Liverpool achieve success in their quest for the Premier League title, leaving the question of his long-term future at the club unanswered.
Salah also made Premier League history as the first player to score and assist in eight different games in a single season. Also eight seasons in a row Salah has scored 20+ goals for Liverpool in all competitions, a new club record.
Arne Slot was also asked about the future of his players ( Salah, Van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold)who are currently out of contract.
“I think I have a lot of control over what they do if they’re on a training pitch But their private lives I don’t have control.I don’t think I have to say too much about it. I’m really happy with Trent, as I am with Mo and Virgil. For me, there’s no difference. Maybe there is more happening in the media [with Trent] than the other two, but I’m really happy with the three.”
The future of these players will be ending at the end of this current season and if a new agreement is not reached before the January transfer window ends, they could agree on a new deal with another club.
