Manchester United Coach Explains Jadon Sancho's Refusal to Apologize to Erik ten Hag
Manchester United Coach Explains Jadon Sancho’s Refusal to Apologize to Erik ten Hag – Manchester United’s first-team coach, Benni McCarthy, has shed light on why Jadon Sancho refused to apologize to Erik ten Hag earlier this season.
Sancho found himself loaned out to Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window following a public fallout with the Dutchman. The English winger was ostracized by the United manager after declining to apologize for a social media post directed at Ten Hag.
The post stated: “Please don’t believe everything you read. I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself very well in training this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!”
McCarthy provided insights into the circumstances surrounding Sancho’s decision not to apologize, shedding light on the complexities of the situation.
This was a reaction to Ten Hag’s assertion that Sancho hadn’t reached the required ‘level’ in training to merit selection for first-team matches.
Consequently, the 24-year-old saw minimal action, making just three substitute appearances in the Premier League before being completely omitted from future matchday squads.
In discussing Sancho’s refusal to apologize, McCarthy shared insights with 947: “I had a conversation with the manager where I highlighted the delicacy of the situation.
I expressed to him my belief that Jadon feels if he were to apologize, it would be seen as an admission that he doesn’t train or work hard, effectively validating all the criticism leveled against him.”
