Pep Guardiola Extends Manchester City Contract Until 2027

Manchester City has officially announced the extension of Pep Guardiola’s contract for two more years, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2027. The news was confirmed on the club’s website on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

The decision to renew Guardiola’s contract was described as straightforward, given his remarkable achievements since joining the club from Bayern Munich in 2016. This extension means Guardiola will have spent over a decade with the reigning Premier League champions.

Guardiola’s Trophy Haul at Manchester City

Since his arrival, Guardiola has secured an impressive 18 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League. He made history last season (2023/24) by becoming the first manager in Premier League history to win four consecutive league titles.

Guardiola’s tenure has also seen Manchester City achieve unprecedented milestones, such as amassing 100 points in a single season (2017/18) and winning all four domestic trophies in the 2018/19 campaign — a feat unmatched in English football history.

Guardiola’s Thoughts on the Extension

Guardiola expressed his gratitude and excitement for staying at Manchester City in a heartfelt statement:

*”Manchester City means so much to me. This is my ninth season here, and we have shared so many amazing moments together. I have a special connection to this club, which is why I’m delighted to commit for another two seasons.

Thank you to everyone who continues to trust and support me — the Owner, Chairman Khaldoon, Ferran, Txiki, the players, and, of course, the fans. It’s an honour and a privilege to be here.

As I’ve said many times, Manchester City provides everything a manager could wish for, and I truly appreciate that. Now, the focus is on adding more trophies to our collection.”*
