Man United reach transfer agreement with a club for Andre Onana
Fresh reports suggest that Manchester United have reached a breakthrough in negotiations for goalkeeper André Onana, with a deal now in place for him to join Trabzonspor on a season-long loan.
According to multiple reliable sports outlets, including Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have given the green light for the Cameroonian shot-stopper to move to Turkey after falling out of favor under new manager Ruben Amorim. While the two clubs are understood to have finalized terms, Onana himself has yet to reach a personal agreement with Trabzonspor. However, sources close to the situation indicate that the 29-year-old is open to the switch.
Onana’s rapid fall from grace at Old Trafford has become a major talking point. Once a regular starter for United, he now appears firmly out of the club’s long-term plans.
Football Insider reports that the goalkeeper has been told directly that he has no future at the club. Manager Ruben Amorim made his stance clear early in the season by omitting Onana from United’s opening three Premier League fixtures before moving quickly to secure Senne Lammens as his preferred option between the sticks.
This development signals a major shift for United, who invested heavily in Onana just a year ago. His sudden demotion and looming departure underline the club’s determination to rebuild and adapt to Amorim’s vision.
While the Trabzonspor loan deal looks closest to materializing, Onana’s future could still take another twist. The Saudi Pro League transfer window remains open until September 23, 2025, offering another potential route for the Cameroonian goalkeeper.
Despite this, interest from Saudi clubs has so far been limited, leaving open the possibility that a permanent move away from Old Trafford may not happen until the January 2026 transfer window.
For now, United’s stance is clear: André Onana no longer features in their plans. Whether he seals a move to Turkey, explores a Saudi adventure, or waits until January for fresh offers, the writing seems to be on the wall for his time at Old Trafford.
