Man set on fire in Times Square; leaving him horrifically burned
A man was set on fire in Times Square in a horrifying attack early Sunday, March 16, that left him with burns all over his face.
Video from the scene showed the moments immediately after the attack on the 45-year-old man.
The victim is seen in pain and covered in burns as authorities placed him inside an ambulance after putting out the blaze.
Dozens of first responders can be seen in the clip surrounding the scene as the victim stands on the sidewalk, shirtless and covered in a blue blanket.
The footage also showed cops talking to an apparent companion of the victim who was wearing a short dresss and high heels.
The NYPD responded to reports of a man on fire at W. 41st and Seventh Ave. just before 4 a.m. Sunday, according to cops.
Authorities said they believe he was set on fire, but did not immediately have a name for the perpetrator.
The NYPD could not say whether the attack was targeted or random.
EMS took the man to New York Presbyterian Cornell where he is in stable condition, police said.
No arrests have been made. Police investigation is ongoing.
