Lamine Yamal’s Father Now Under Investigation in 2024 Stabbing Incident

New revelations have surfaced in the nearly year-old stabbing case involving Mounir Nasraoui, the father of Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal, with recent reports confirming that he is now under formal investigation.

The incident, which took place in July 2024 in the town of Mataró near Barcelona, initially identified Nasraoui as the victim. However, according to an exclusive report by Crónica Global (via A Bola) released on Friday, July 11, 2025, Nasraoui is now being treated not only as a victim but also as a possible aggressor in the violent confrontation.

The case is currently being handled by Court of Instruction No. 3 in Mataró, where legal authorities have reopened the investigation into Nasraoui’s role in the altercation.

Background to the Incident

The confrontation occurred around 8 p.m. in a public parking lot, where Nasraoui and a group of friends reportedly arranged a meeting with several young individuals to address a dispute that had arisen earlier in the day. The conflict reportedly stemmed from a minor incident involving Nasraoui’s son and nephew, who allegedly splashed water on one of the other individuals involved.

What was initially intended to be a conversation to defuse the situation quickly escalated. Witnesses say Nasraoui became visibly agitated and allegedly made remarks such as, “This cannot happen” and “We will resolve this later,” prompting police intervention.

According to court documents and the defense of the alleged attacker, the encounter turned violent when Nasraoui reportedly struck a young man, breaking his nose. The same young man then allegedly retaliated by stabbing Nasraoui.

Nasraoui’s Role Reexamined

The turning point in the investigation came when one of Nasraoui’s own companions admitted to authorities that the footballer’s father had physically assaulted the young man before being stabbed. This testimony, alongside other pieces of evidence, has led to Nasraoui being formally summoned to appear in court as a suspect on July 21.

While the initial narrative portrayed Nasraoui as the sole victim, the evolving investigation suggests a more complex dynamic, with possible mutual aggression involved. Legal experts suggest that the court will now evaluate both self-defense claims and the extent of responsibility for all parties present during the altercation.

Implications and Public Reaction

The developments have drawn significant public and media attention, particularly given Nasraoui’s high-profile connection to Lamine Yamal, one of Spain’s brightest footballing prospects. Yamal, who continues to rise through the ranks at FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team, has not publicly commented on the matter.

As the court prepares for the upcoming hearing, more details are expected to emerge, potentially reshaping public perception of the July 2024 incident. Meanwhile, both legal teams are expected to present further evidence and witness testimonies that could influence the direction of the case.
