Kylian Mbappe equals Cristiano Ronaldo’s record at Real Madrid

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé is steadily carving his name among the greatest players to don the iconic white jersey of Los Blancos. With each match, the French international continues to showcase his brilliance, drawing comparisons to club legends.

In a recent fixture against Leganés, Mbappé delivered an impressive performance, netting a brace that brought his goal tally for the club to 33.

This milestone equals the number of goals Cristiano Ronaldo scored in his debut season with Real Madrid. With several games still remaining in the 2024/25 campaign, Mbappé is well on track to surpass this record, further cementing his status as a key figure in Madrid’s attacking force.

The former Paris Saint-Germain star opened the scoring from the penalty spot at the Santiago Bernabéu, only for Leganés to respond swiftly through Diego Garcia. Before halftime, Dani Raba gave the visitors a surprising 2-1 lead.

However, Real Madrid fought back in the second half, with Jude Bellingham leveling the score before Mbappé struck again, securing his 33rd goal across all competitions this season.

Kylian Mbappé expressed his excitement and gratitude after equaling Cristiano Ronaldo’s debut-season goal record at Real Madrid, calling it a “very special moment” and a milestone that not everyone can achieve.

“It’s very special. The most important things are the ones you do with the team, but to score the same number of goals as Cristiano is always good. We know what Cristiano represents for Real Madrid and for me. We always talk, and he gives me advice. It’s good to score goals, but as I always say, we have to win trophies here.”

So far, 22 of Mbappé’s 33 goals have come in La Liga—a remarkable feat that only legendary players have managed to accomplish.
