Kim Jong Un ‘ex3cutes 30 officials over floods in North Korea that k!!led 4,000 people’

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un is reported to have ordered the execution of up to 30 officials following their alleged failure to prevent the devastating flooding and landslides that occurred during the summer, which resulted in approximately 4,000 deaths.

According to a report by TV Chosun, an official within Kim Jong-Un’s regime has revealed that between 20 and 30 high-ranking leaders in North Korea were charged with corruption and negligence. As a consequence of their perceived incompetence, the state has sentenced them to capital punishment.

“It has been determined that 20 to 30 cadres in the flood-stricken area were executed at the same time late last month,” the official told the outlet.

The North Korean Central News Agency previously reported that Kim Jong-Un ordered a strict punishment for officials following the catastrophic flooding that struck Chagang Province in July. The disaster claimed approximately 4,000 lives and displaced over 15,000 people.

Kim Jong-Un was seen visiting the affected areas last month, assessing the damage, and meeting with residents. He estimated that rebuilding the devastated neighborhoods would take several months.

In response to the disaster, Kim Jong-Un also criticized reports from South Korea that exaggerated the death toll, denying allegations that thousands had perished.

The officials who were executed have not been specifically identified. However, the report mentions that Kang Bong-hoon, the Provincial Party Committee Secretary for Chagang Province since 2019, was among those dismissed by Kim during an emergency meeting convened in the wake of the flooding.

Following this meeting, former North Korean diplomat Lee Il-gyu spoke to TV Chosun, noting the heightened anxiety among provincial officials, who were reportedly fearful of severe repercussions for their failure to manage the crisis.

This incident is not unprecedented; in 2019, Kim Jong-Un reportedly ordered the execution of Kim Hyok Chol, North Korea’s nuclear envoy to the US, for failing to secure a successful summit between Kim and then-US President Donald Trump.
