Kate Middleton to Follow Strict Rules in Wimbledon Royal Box Return Tomorrow
The Princess of Wales will present the men’s singles trophy at Wimbledon on Sunday but must adhere to strict rules. Kate Middleton, currently recovering from cancer, will delight fans with her return to Wimbledon’s centre court, presenting the trophy to either Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz in the men’s final.
However, she won’t be present today, and Wimbledon chairwoman Debbie Jevans will award the women’s champion trophy on Kate’s behalf to either Jasmine Paolini or Barbora Krejcikova.
While most spectators find their own seats, a select few watch from Centre Court’s Royal Box. This exclusive area, often graced by sporting legends and royalty, is strictly by invitation only, with just 74 luxury seats available. Guests must follow a stringent set of rules, reflecting Wimbledon’s pride in its heritage.
The Royal Box, established in 1922, hosts friends and guests of Wimbledon, with invitations from the Chairman extended to British and overseas royals, government heads, tennis figures, commercial partners, British armed forces, media leaders, and supporters of British tennis.

Invited guests enjoy the Clubhouse for lunch, tea, and drinks but must meet specific standards not required of other fans. They must dress smartly, with men in suits or jackets and ties, and women asked not to wear hats to avoid obstructing views.
Until 2003, players would bow or curtsy to Royal Family members in the Royal Box, a tradition stopped at the request of HRH The Duke of Kent, except when a monarch is present.
