Jurgen Klopp Reportedly Set for Sensational Return to Coaching with Serie A Side Roma

Recent reports suggest that Jurgen Klopp is preparing for a dramatic return to the touchline, potentially taking charge of Italian Serie A club AS Roma ahead of the 2025/2026 football season.

The former Liverpool boss, who stepped away from management in 2024 after nearly a decade at Anfield, has been out of coaching for over a year. However, fresh indications point to a surprising comeback—this time in Italy’s top flight.

Klopp, who bid an emotional farewell to Liverpool fans after a highly successful tenure, is reportedly on the verge of signing with Roma. The capital club is said to be in advanced talks with the German tactician and remains hopeful of finalizing the deal, which would see Klopp succeed Claudio Ranieri, who recently retired from coaching.

If confirmed, Klopp would become the latest high-profile manager to lead Roma, following in the footsteps of José Mourinho, who coached the club from 2021 to 2023 and led them to UEFA Europa Conference League glory in 2022.

Since his departure from Liverpool, Klopp has served as the Head of Global Soccer for the Red Bull Group—a strategic oversight role involving clubs such as RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls, Leeds United, and Paris FC. However, according to La Stampa, Klopp is now eager to return to full-time coaching.

The Friedkin Group, which owns AS Roma, has reportedly admired Klopp for some time and is now believed to have reached a “full agreement” with the 56-year-old. While Klopp was also said to be in talks with another club currently undergoing a major ownership transition, Roma appears to have won the race for his signature.

Should the deal go through, Klopp’s arrival at the Stadio Olimpico would mark a bold new era for Roma as they look to re-establish themselves among Europe’s elite under one of the most charismatic and successful managers of the modern era.
