Jennifer Lopez Files for Divorce from Ben Affleck

American actress Jennifer Lopez has officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck after two years of marriage. The divorce filing, submitted on Tuesday, August 20, in Los Angeles County Superior Court, comes as a surprise to many, as the couple had rekindled their relationship just a year before their wedding in July 2022.

Notably, court documents reveal that the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement.

Lopez and Affleck’s romance has been a long and storied one. They first became engaged in the early 2000s after meeting on the set of “Gigli” in 2002. However, they broke off the engagement and spent 17 years apart before reuniting.

During that time, Lopez married singer Marc Anthony in 2004, with whom she shares two children, before divorcing in 2014. She was also engaged to former New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez in 2019, but they split in 2021. This divorce marks Lopez’s fourth marriage.

Affleck, on the other hand, was married to actress Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018, and they share three children.

The couple’s 2022 wedding was a simple yet romantic affair, taking place in Las Vegas just before midnight, where they waited in line with other couples to exchange vows.

The intimate ceremony was celebrated as a dream come true, with Lopez sharing in her fan newsletter that it was “the best possible wedding we could have imagined.”

Despite their efforts to make it work, rumors of trouble began circulating in May, with reports suggesting that the couple hadn’t been seen together in weeks and that Affleck had moved out of their shared home, which was later put up for sale. The divorce filing seems to confirm these speculations, marking the end of yet another chapter in their relationship.
