The 33-year-old, whose real name is Lolita Callender, was ambushed late on Saturday night in Texas Square, East Ruimveldt. According to the Guyana Police Force, a man on a motorcycle approached her parked car around 11:35 p.m. and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Callender sustained serious injuries, with gunshot wounds to her face, neck, hands, and right leg. She was rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Police confirmed on Sunday that an individual has been taken into custody and is assisting with the investigation. Security footage released by local media reportedly shows a lone gunman walking toward Callender’s white Mercedes-Benz before unleashing a volley of shots.
