Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided a detailed update on the club’s growing injury list, shedding light on the fitness status of several key players ahead of their upcoming La Liga clash against Elche.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Flick expressed his concern over the recent setback suffered by Pedri, who sustained an unexpected injury shortly after his impressive showing in El Clásico against Real Madrid.

“Pedri’s injury really surprised us,” Flick admitted. “After El Clásico, he only complained of slight discomfort, nothing serious. But after medical checks, we realized the issue was more significant than expected. We’re missing one of our most important players, and we hope he can recover and return to the team as soon as possible.”

The German coach also offered encouraging news regarding Lamine Yamal, the teenage sensation who has been managing minor physical discomfort in recent weeks.

“Lamine is doing well. There are days when he still feels a little discomfort, but overall, his recovery is progressing positively,” Flick explained. “I’ve spoken with him personally — he’s young, incredibly talented, and it’s our responsibility to protect and guide him carefully. We’ll continue managing him in the best possible way.”

Flick further confirmed that both Robert Lewandowski and Dani Olmo have returned to full training and are now available for selection. Their return comes at a crucial moment for Barcelona as they prepare for a busy run of fixtures in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

“Having Lewandowski and Olmo back is a big boost,” Flick noted. “They bring experience, leadership, and quality to the squad, which will be vital as we enter an important phase of the season.”

Under Flick’s management, Barcelona have maintained strong momentum, currently sitting second in the 2025/26 La Liga table. The Catalan side has displayed consistency both at home and away, remaining within striking distance of the top spot as the title race intensifies.

Despite the challenges posed by injuries, Flick remains optimistic about his team’s resilience and depth. “We’ve built a squad with great balance,” he added. “Even when key players are unavailable, others are stepping up. That’s the mentality we want at Barcelona — unity, focus, and determination.”

With key players returning and confidence running high, Barcelona fans will be hopeful that the team can sustain its strong form as they pursue both domestic and European glory.
