Alice and Ellen Kessler — the legendary German twin entertainers known across Europe as The Kessler Sisters — have died at 89.

Police were called to their home near Munich on Monday, where the iconic duo was found dead.
Reports from the German Humanist Association confirm the twins chose to end their lives together through an assisted suicide, according to Ynetnews.

The Kessler Twins were giants in post-war European entertainment: singers, dancers, cabaret stars, and cultural icons who dominated stages from Paris to Rome.

Born in East Germany in the 1930s, they fled with their family to Düsseldorf after the war, trained in ballet, and kicked off their careers at the famous Lido cabaret in Paris before they even turned 20.

Throughout the 1960s, they became global sensations, performing alongside legends like Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, and Harry Belafonte.
They eventually settled in Rome, where their popularity in Italy soared even higher.

The sisters never married, lived together all their lives, and reportedly requested that their ashes be placed in a single urn — a final symbol of a lifelong bond the world admired.
