Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has reportedly emerged as a strong contender for the Crystal Palace managerial position at Selhurst Park, with speculation growing around a possible change in leadership ahead of the new season.

The rumours surfaced following widespread reports that current Palace manager, Oliver Glasner, is expected to depart the club at the end of the campaign. With this in mind, Crystal Palace’s hierarchy are said to be actively planning for the future by compiling a shortlist of potential successors as they look to usher in the next phase of the club’s long-term development.

Lampard’s name has increasingly gained attention in recent weeks, largely due to his recent managerial work, which has gone a long way toward restoring his reputation after previously mixed experiences in the Premier League. His growing credibility has not gone unnoticed, with Palace chairman Steve Parish reportedly holding the form

er England international in high regard. Parish is believed to admire Lampard’s top-level experience, leadership qualities, and proven ability to nurture and develop young talent—an attribute that aligns well with Crystal Palace’s squad profile.

Adding to the speculation is the remarkable turnaround achieved by Coventry City in the Championship, which has also caught the attention of the Crystal Palace hierarchy as they assess their options beyond Glasner.

The club’s rise has been nothing short of extraordinary, with the team climbing from 17th position on the table to the summit after Lampard’s arrival—one of the most impressive comebacks seen in the Championship in recent years. This resurgence has further strengthened Lampard’s case as a viable candidate for a Premier League return.

Despite the growing buzz, there has been no official approach or confirmation from Crystal Palace at this point, and the links remain purely speculative. Several other managers are also believed to be under consideration, meaning Lampard is just one of multiple options being evaluated rather than a guaranteed appointment.
