Former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has reportedly undergone heart surgery after being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, a medical condition characterized by an irregular and often rapid heartbeat.

The 66-year-old Italian tactician, who currently serves as the head coach of Lazio, was advised to undergo thorough medical examinations after experiencing symptoms associated with the condition. Following the checks, doctors recommended immediate treatment. Lazio later confirmed that the procedure was successful and assured fans that no complications were recorded during or after the surgery, easing concerns across the football community.

The operation was carried out in Rome at the Policlinico Tor Vergata Hospital, where Sarri underwent a minimally invasive heart procedure known as catheter ablation. This type of surgery is commonly used to correct abnormal heart rhythms and is considered highly effective.

In an official statement, Lazio expressed their appreciation to the medical professionals involved in the procedure and confirmed that Sarri is responding well to treatment and recovering steadily.

As part of his recovery process, Sarri has taken a short break from his coaching duties to rest and regain full fitness. In his absence, assistant coach Marco Ianni has been placed in charge of overseeing training sessions. Club officials have indicated that Sarri is expected to return to the touchline in the coming days, with doctors expressing optimism about his recovery timeline.

The news has prompted an outpouring of well wishes from across the football world, with fans, players, and colleagues wishing the experienced coach a speedy recovery. Lazio supporters, in particular, are eagerly looking forward to seeing their manager back on the sidelines soon.
