Eberechi Eze to join Arsenal in £60m+ deal

Arsenal are on the verge of completing what could be one of the most sensational transfers of the summer, as they close in on the signing of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in a deal valued at over £60 million. The move represents a major coup for the Gunners, who have managed to beat fierce North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the highly sought-after attacking midfielder.

Spurs had been considered frontrunners for Eze’s signature, with reports suggesting they were ready to trigger his release clause. However, Arsenal acted decisively after fresh injury concerns emerged over Kai Havertz, who picked up a knock in Sunday’s victory over Manchester United and subsequently missed Wednesday’s open training session. The development prompted the Gunners to accelerate negotiations, putting them in pole position to land Eze.

Remarkably, Eze was once on Arsenal’s books as a teenager before being released, and his potential return to the Emirates marks a dramatic twist in his career trajectory. According to sources, Arsenal have already reached an agreement in principle with Crystal Palace for a fee close to Eze’s £68 million release clause – the same figure Tottenham had reportedly been willing to pay.

Despite mounting speculation, Palace manager Oliver Glasner has insisted that both Eze and captain Marc Guehi, another player linked with a move away, remain fully committed to the club. Speaking ahead of Palace’s crucial Europa Conference League play-off clash with Norwegian side Fredrikstad, Glasner said:

“They are committed to the team, they have contracts here, and they have been crucial to our success. Until the day they leave, they will continue to give 100 percent for Crystal Palace.”

Eze, whose current deal runs until 2027, has been one of Palace’s standout performers in recent seasons, dazzling fans with his creativity, dribbling skills, and eye for goal. His consistency has drawn admiration from several top clubs across Europe, but Arsenal’s swift and strategic approach now puts them firmly in the driver’s seat to secure his services.

For Arsenal, the signing would not only provide a significant boost to their attacking options but also serve as a statement of intent, underscoring their ambition to compete at the very highest level both domestically and in Europe. For Eze, it would represent a homecoming of sorts – a chance to return to the club that once let him go, but this time as a proven Premier League star ready to shine on the biggest stage.
