Diddy Returns New York's Key to the City Upon Request
Music mogul Diddy has returned New York City’s key after Mayor Eric Adams requested it back, citing a viral video showing an assault involving Cassie, weeks ago.
In a letter to Diddy, Mayor Adams expressed deep concern over the Cassie video, emphasizing his support for survivors of domestic abuse. He explained that the Key to the City is bestowed upon individuals who exemplify model citizenship, a standard the selection committee no longer believes Diddy meets.
Mayor Adams announced that the committee would convene to discuss this matter and recommended rescinding Combs’ key. He provided an address where Diddy could return the key.

Diddy responded to the letter by promptly returning the Key to the City.
Less than a year ago, Diddy proudly posed with Mayor Adams in September 2023 when he received the honor. However, allegations against Diddy started to emerge just months later, beginning with Cassie’s lawsuit in November.
Despite Diddy’s repeated denials of wrongdoing, he admitted to assaulting Cassie and apologized after a video surfaced. He continues to face multiple sexual assault lawsuits and is under federal investigation for alleged sex and narcotics trafficking, among other serious charges.
