Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has warmly received veteran highlife icon Bright Chimezie at his Lagos residence in a touching gesture of admiration and respect.
The visit follows Davido’s recent revelation that Chimezie’s 2018 classic Because of English inspired his new track With You, a collaboration with fellow artist Omah Lay. In a video call shared last week, Davido praised Chimezie’s artistry and invited him to meet in person.
True to his word, Davido hosted the legendary musician—famous for his signature Zigima sound—welcoming him with one of his luxury vehicles. A viral video captured their warm encounter, with both artists exchanging heartfelt compliments and enjoying lively conversation.
During their earlier call, Davido had previewed the With You music video for Chimezie, who described it as “a beautiful piece of work” and commended Davido for honoring his influence.
