Davido clears the air on viral Warri “slap” video
Davido Refutes Viral Claims of Being Slapped in Warri, Clarifies Incident Involving Security Aide
Afrobeats megastar Davido has dismissed reports suggesting he was slapped while attending a show in Warri, Delta State.
The controversy erupted after a viral video surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), showing the singer moving through a crowd with his security entourage. In the clip, a hand appeared to strike the back of his head, prompting the blogger who shared it to caption the post, “Davido slapped in Warri.” The video quickly gained traction, sparking widespread speculation.
Responding swiftly, Davido blasted the claim as false, directly calling out the blogger as a “mumu” and a heartless individual for spreading misinformation. He clarified that the moment captured was not an assault but rather his own security personnel accidentally brushing the back of his head while shielding him from the crowd.
The clarification drew mixed reactions among fans. While many expressed relief, others voiced concerns about the preparedness of his security detail. Some pointed out that if the incident had involved a weapon, the outcome could have been more dangerous. A few critics also recalled past disturbances involving artists like 2Baba and P-Square in Warri, urging Davido’s team to tighten their protective measures.
This latest controversy adds to ongoing scrutiny of Davido’s security team. Hours before the Warri clip emerged, another video showed him being rushed off stage following a minor altercation with a fan. Months earlier, a woman had managed to breach his security circle in public, raising fresh questions about the team’s effectiveness.
Away from the headlines, Davido recently offered a more personal glimpse into his life during an interview. The award-winning singer and father of twins revealed that wealth and luxury are not his biggest priorities. Instead, he values simple, heartfelt gestures, noting that even being asked, “How are you?” means more to him than material possessions.
Despite the drama, Davido seems determined to keep his focus on music, family, and what truly matters to him, while letting fans know the Warri “slap” claims were nothing but false buzz.
