Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks YouTube Record, Gains 10 Million Subscribers in 12 Hours (Video)
Cristiano Ronaldo joined YouTube on Wednesday, August 21, and immediately made waves by releasing a series of videos.
Within just a few hours, he shattered the previous record held by American YouTuber MrBeast, who currently has the highest following on the platform.
The 39-year-old Portuguese football legend amassed over 10 million subscribers in just 12 hours, surpassing MrBeast’s achievement, who took 132 days to reach the same milestone. MrBeast currently leads YouTube with 311 million subscribers, recently overtaking T-Series, which has 272 million subscribers, and Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes, which follows with about 180 million subscribers.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently plays as a forward and captain for the Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr, joined YouTube on July 8, but his first upload was on August 21, 2024. As of the time of writing, Ronaldo has already surpassed 15 million subscribers.
In his debut video, the Portuguese soccer star shared a moment with his family as he unboxed the YouTube golden button, awarded for reaching 1 million subscribers faster than anyone in history.
Ronaldo is also the most followed individual on Meta’s Instagram, boasting 636 million followers. The official Instagram brand account follows closely with 626 million followers, while Ronaldo’s soccer rival, Lionel Messi, ranks next with 504 million followers. Pop star Selena Gomez rounds out the list with 425 million followers.
