Nicki Minaj fired back after a crowd-pleasing jab from Trevor Noah, responding with a bizarre and unfounded allegation about the comedian’s “boyfriend” in a tweet that included photos of Jay-Z.
The reaction came amid Minaj’s ongoing feud with Jay-Z and Roc Nation, which dates back to last year over money she claims she is owed. Noah, hosting the Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 1, wasted no time in his opening monologue, taking aim at Nicki Minaj and Donald Trump.
“Nicki Minaj is not here,” Noah said, pausing as loud applause erupted. Cameras caught Chrissy Teigen in the background giving a thumbs up and mouthing, “Bye.”
Noah then added, “She is still at the White House with Donald Trump discussing very important issues…,” before launching into a Trump impression, joking, “Actually Nicki, I have the biggest ass.”
Sunday marked Noah’s sixth consecutive year as Grammy host, a run that began in 2021. According to executive producer Ben Winston, this edition is set to be his final turn as host, and he appeared determined to go out with a bang.
