American R&B singer Chris Brown has scored a legal win as one of the lawsuits against him has been officially dropped. Abe Diaw, the man who had filed a civil suit in 2023 accusing Brown of a violent assault in London, has now moved to dismiss the case.

Diaw had alleged that Brown attacked him with a Don Julio 1942 tequila bottle at the upscale TAPE nightclub, claiming he was struck three times and then viciously stomped on while unconscious. The reported assault allegedly left Diaw with serious injuries.

However, in a surprising turn, Diaw filed court documents in Los Angeles County last Friday requesting that the case be dismissed with prejudice — a legal term indicating the matter is permanently closed and cannot be brought back to court, often hinting at an out-of-court settlement.

Despite this development, Chris Brown’s legal troubles are far from over. In the UK, criminal charges stemming from the same nightclub incident are still ongoing. British prosecutors have charged Brown with assault and possession of a weapon following his arrest earlier this year when he arrived in the country as part of his world tour.

After being taken into custody, the Grammy-winning artist was later released on bail and appeared in court about ten days ago, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
