Chelsea leads transfer race for key player over Man United
Chelsea Beat Man United in Race for Liam Delap as Summer Transfer Nears Completion
Chelsea FC are reportedly on the brink of securing the signature of Manchester United’s top target for the June 2025 transfer window, Liam Delap, edging out the Red Devils in the race.
Fresh off their impressive UEFA Conference League final win against Real Betis, the Blues are wasting no time in strengthening their squad. According to multiple sources, the club is close to finalizing a deal for Delap, who netted 12 league goals this season and is set to feature in Lee Carsley’s England squad for the U21 European Championship in Slovakia.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who previously coached Delap at Manchester City, is believed to have played a key role in swaying the striker’s decision. Maresca has described the young forward as “fantastic” and was confident that his past relationship with the player could give Chelsea the upper hand over their rivals.
Meanwhile, Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna, who also had Delap on loan, acknowledged the growing interest in the 21-year-old: “It looks more likely than not that he will move on this summer. He has interest from nearly every club in the league, and I don’t think there are many in the world who wouldn’t want him. But nothing is done yet—it will take its course.”
With Chelsea now in pole position, Delap’s future could soon be resolved as the summer window approaches.
