Chelsea complete 4th signing of the June 2025 transfer window
Chelsea Complete Fourth Summer Signing with Mamadou Sarr Ahead of Club World Cup
Chelsea have officially completed their fourth signing of the June 2025 transfer window, securing 19-year-old French defender Mamadou Sarr from sister club Strasbourg in a deal worth £12 million.
The highly rated teenager has signed an eight-year contract and is set to be available for selection during Chelsea’s campaign at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
While the agreement for Sarr was initially reached in January, both clubs opted to finalise the deal in the summer window. Sarr made 28 appearances for Strasbourg last season, playing a key role in their impressive seventh-place finish in Ligue 1, which earned them a spot in the UEFA Conference League play-offs.
This marks the first official player transfer between Chelsea and Strasbourg since both clubs came under the BlueCo ownership group, led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
Chelsea’s Club World Cup group stage fixtures are set, with the Blues facing:
LAFC (USA) on 16 June
Flamengo (Brazil) on 20 June
ES Tunis (Tunisia) on 25 June
Sarr joins an active Chelsea summer recruitment drive, following the signings of:
Liam Delap (£30m from Ipswich Town)
Estevão (£29m from Palmeiras)
Dário Essugo (£18m from Sporting Lisbon)
With the Club World Cup fast approaching, Chelsea’s transfer activity signals clear intent to reinforce their squad for both global and domestic challenges.
