Celine Dion shares a rare family photo with her kids on her husband's death anniversary
Céline Dion shared a heartfelt photo with her three children to commemorate the anniversary of her late husband René Angélil’s passing.
The 56-year-old singer was married to René, her talent manager, for over 20 years before his death in 2016 at age 73. Her family includes René-Charles (RC), 23, and 14-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson.
The photo, taken on an outdoor sofa with a Christmas-themed backdrop, marked the ninth anniversary of René’s passing. Céline wore a cream outfit, including a jumper, jogging bottoms, and trainers, while her sons complemented her look with muted-colored outfits.
Alongside the festive photo, she reflected on the loss of her late husband. Céline wrote in the post: “René, we can’t believe you’ve been gone nine years already. Not a day goes by that we don’t feel your presence, RC, Eddy, Nelson and I.”
She continued the caption by writing: “You were my greatest champion, my partner, and the one who always saw the best in me. I honor you and you are forever missed mon amour …” Céline then concluded by stating in it: “We love you.”
The post has since amassed more than 140,000 likes on the platform, with singer Leona Lewis among those who liked it. Fans also took to the comments section to support Céline, with one fan writing: “Sending love to you and your family.” Another said: “Thinking about you and your family. Sending hugs.” A third person wrote: “Lovely photo of you all.”
Céline’s late husband had been her manager for much of her career. René, who was 38 at the time, and Céline, who was just 12, begun working together professionally in 1980. Their relationship is said to have turned romantic when she was around 19, but they reportedly kept their personal relationship out of the spotlight for years.
Céline Dion and René Angélil married in 1994 and welcomed three sons during their time together. René managed Céline’s career until 2014, stepping down after his cancer diagnosis. He passed away in 2016.
Following his death, Céline continued her Las Vegas residency and released two albums, including Courage in 2019, while also embarking on tours. Her illustrious career includes winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988.
In 2022, Céline revealed her diagnosis with stiff-person syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological disorder, leading her to take a hiatus from her career. However, she made a triumphant return last year with a performance at the Olympic Games in Paris.
