Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid reportedly set to part ways

Real Madrid have reportedly decided to part ways with manager Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the 2024/25 season, ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the mutual agreement between Ancelotti and the club via his official social media platforms on Monday, April 28, 2025. Spanish media reports suggest that the decision followed a disappointing season for the Galacticos under the Italian’s leadership.

Why Did Real Madrid Let Go of Carlo Ancelotti?

The 2024/25 campaign has been far below expectations for Real Madrid. With no trophies secured so far, the club’s performance has fallen short of the high standards expected at the Santiago Bernabéu. Madrid were recently eliminated from the UEFA Champions League and also suffered defeat to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final.

While there remains a faint possibility of clinching the La Liga title, it would require Barcelona to drop points in most of their remaining fixtures—a scenario that seems unlikely.

What’s Next for Carlo Ancelotti?

Ancelotti is set to take over as head coach of the Brazilian national team in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The five-time world champions are aiming to secure a historic sixth title under his guidance.

The move also sets up a reunion between Ancelotti and several of his current Real Madrid players, including Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo, Éder Militão, and rising star Endrick. Additionally, he is familiar with other Brazilian talents in La Liga, such as Barcelona’s Raphinha.
