Bashir Ahmad, who was a media aide to former President Buhari, posted a photo of Peter Obi shaking hands with Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The photo was captured on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, as the two politicians traveled together on the same bus to offer condolences to the Yar’Adua family. This visit was in response to the death of Hajia Dada Yar’Adua, the family matriarch, who passed away in Katsina on Monday, September 2.

Posting the photo on X, Bashir wrote; “Caption not needed.”

Despite being political rivals, Vice President Kashim Shettima, PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar  and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi were filmed journeying together in a bus to the funeral of Dada Yar’Adua.

Dada Yar’Adua, the mother of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua,  died yesterday, September 2, at the age of 102.

Politicians and other dignitaries travelled to Katsina for the funeral rites which began today, September 3.

A video shared online shows Kashim Shettima and Atiku Abubakar sitting together, while Peter Obi sat several seats behind them as they went to pay their final respects.

The video has sparked a conversation about rival politicians getting along peacefully while their supporters get violent with each other.
