Burna Boy issues on-stage apology as backlash sparks tour cancellations

Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, has issued a public apology to his fans in a newly shared video after days of intense backlash and speculation surrounding declining ticket sales linked to a recent concert controversy.

The uproar began after an incident at his Denver, Colorado show, where Burna Boy abruptly paused mid-performance upon noticing a woman asleep in the front row. Visibly displeased, he called attention to the moment and instructed security to escort her out. He also warned her boyfriend to remove her immediately or risk having the entire show cut short.

The situation grew even more heated when an old video resurfaced online, showing Burna Boy declaring that he preferred wealthy supporters and did not depend on anyone’s assistance. The clip reignited criticism across social media, as many fans expressed deep disappointment and even urged others to boycott his ongoing shows.

As the controversy swelled, several dates on his No Sign of Weakness U.S. tour were suddenly cancelled without clear explanations. Ticketmaster confirmed that his November 28, 2025 concert at The Armory in Minneapolis was called off just 24 hours before the scheduled performance. His upcoming December 1 show in Chicago was also removed from the lineup, fueling even more speculation about the impact of the backlash.

However, a newly circulating video from his performance in Texas suggests Burna Boy is now attempting to address the issue head-on. In the clip, he pauses mid-song to speak directly to the audience, offering a heartfelt apology. He admitted that some of his earlier comments were misguided and emphasized that he never meant to hurt or disrespect anyone.

This moment marks his first public effort to rebuild trust with his fanbase since the controversy erupted. Still, questions linger about the fate of the remaining dates on his tour, and whether his apology will be enough to steady the turbulence surrounding his recent actions.
