British man dragged from police station and burnt to de@th after locals in Ecuador accuse him of murd£r
A British man was reportedly pulled from a police station and burnt to de@th in front of officers in Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest on Sunday, April 20.
Deep in the Amazon Rainforest, a celebration by locals in a small riverside village ended in double murd£r.
A foreigner – reported as ‘English’ or ‘British’ in local media – was beaten by residents who accused him of shooting a man de@d in the isolated village of Playas del Cuyabeno.
Police arrested the unnamed British man arpund 6am and locked him in the station for protection while waiting for reinforcements, Diario Extra reports.
But his safety behind bars didn’t last.
The group of locals returned six hours later, at about midday, broke him out of the police station and set him on fire outside until he d!ed.
He was later seen lying on the ground covered in a white sheet while people stood around.
Respected Ecuadorian newspaper Ecuavisa said the horror k!lling happened in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve in Ecuador’s Amazon region, which is a popular eco-tourism area.
It is the second largest reserve of the South American country’s 56 national parks and protected areas, and is located in the Putamayo Canton in Sucumbios Province.
Ecuadorian newspaper Extra reported officers who arrested him decided not to intervene when a baying mob forced their way into the police station ahead of his transfer out of the area.
According to the newspaper, they stood back in order to avoid being attacked themselves and to avoid additional damage to state property.
It said police reinforcements had taken time to reach the area because of its remoteness and difficult access.
A local TV station, reporting on the two de@ths, said: “In the early hours of Sunday, April 20, in the parish of Playas de Cuyabeno, at the closure of an event that took place for the anniversary of the Kichwa community, an incident occurred where as a result two people d!ed.
“Those two people were a community member from the area and another person of British nationality who died due to the severity of his burns.”
The Ecuadorian man k!lled has been named locally as Rodrigo Chavez.
A third man was reportedly arrested over the Briton’s k!lling.
Ecuadorian newspaper El Universo reported that police were yet to issue a statement, as they were still gathering information on the case.
