The Oyo State Fire Service on Thursday, Dec. 4, announced the recovery of the body of a 65-year-old man from a deep well at Oke-Oga Atipe, Idi-Aga, Ibadan, Oyo State.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Reform and Chairman of the agency, Moroof Akinwande, in Ibadan.

Akinwande said, “The distress call was received at exactly 09:42hrs on Thursday, December 4, 2025, through a telephone call from Mr Damola, that someone had fallen into a deep well at the above address. The agency’s officers, led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen, were promptly deployed to the scene.

“Upon arrival, they discovered that a man, approximately 65 years old, had fallen into the well. His body was later recovered and handed over to a team of policemen led by SP Idowu from the Agugu Police Division.”

The chairman described the incident as unfortunate and advised residents to remain vigilant and adhere to safety precautions at all times. He also urged members of the public to prioritise mental health and seek help when in distress, while reiterating the importance of fire safety measures, including the installation of fire extinguishers in homes and public buildings, especially during the dry season.

A similar incident occurred in November 2025, when the body of a 45-year-old man was recovered from a deep well at Odo-Ogbo, Oja-Agbe area of Iseyin.
