Boardwalk Empire' star Michael Pitt arrested for s3xual abuse
Michael Pitt has been arrested on charges of s3xual abuse, with authorities accusing him of assaulting his former girlfriend and later attacking her with several blunt objects.
According to the indictment, the charges stem from four domestic incidents that allegedly took place between April 2020 and August 2021.
Police claim that the incidents occurred at Pitt’s home in Bushwick, where he allegedly fondled the victim on one occasion and, months later, sexually assaulted her before striking her with a wooden plank. In a separate incident, prosecutors claim that he attacked the alleged victim with a cinderblock.
Pitt was arrested on Friday, May 2, at 9 PM on charges of assault injury with a weapon sexually motivated, strangulation sexually motivated, s3x abuse, and forcible compulsion. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and was released from custody after posting $100,000 bail.
Pitt is well known for his role as Jimmy Darmody in the first two seasons of “Boardwalk Empire.” His character was killed off due to reports of him being difficult to work with. He has also appeared in other projects like “Hannibal,” “Hugo,” “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” “Dawson’s Creek,” and “Seven Psychopaths.”
Pitt’s attorney, Jason Goldman, responded to the charges, saying, “Unfortunately, we live in a world where somebody like Mr. Pitt, an accomplished professional who would never so much as contemplate these crimes can be arrested on the uncorroborated word of an unhinged individual.”
Goldman added, “In reality, this baseless claim is suspiciously raised some four or five years after the alleged incident, at a time when the two parties were in a completely consensual and voluntary relationship. This case will be dismissed.”
