Billy Ray Cyrus Denies Psychological Abuse Claims by Estranged Wife Firerose
Billy Ray Cyrus Responds to Firerose’s Psychological Abuse Allegations
Country singer Billy Ray Cyrus has responded to his estranged wife Firerose’s allegations of psychological abuse, filed just before her planned double mastectomy. Firerose, 37, accused Cyrus of leaving her abruptly, causing emotional turmoil.
Cyrus’s Legal Counterclaims
In new legal documents, the 62-year-old singer claims Firerose misled him about her identity, including her last name and a previous divorce she never disclosed. Cyrus’s attorneys uncovered this information, raising his suspicions about her background.
Cyrus also alleges Firerose isolated him from one of his daughters, though he did not specify which one, and meddled in his personal affairs with ill intentions. He asserts that Firerose attempted to use his fame to advance her own musical career.
Divorce Filing
Cyrus filed for divorce on May 23, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct” after just seven months of marriage. Firerose, in turn, claimed that Cyrus subjected her to verbal and emotional abuse, especially after she informed him of her need for a double mastectomy.
Firerose’s Allegations
Firerose, a carrier of the BRCA1 gene mutation, alleges that the weeks leading up to her surgery were chaotic. She accused Cyrus of launching verbal assaults and creating an “emotional and psychological prison.” She claimed he called her derogatory names and accused her of using him.
Just 24 hours before her surgery, Firerose claims Cyrus filed for divorce. She said his brother and sister-in-law demanded she leave their shared home, forcing her to postpone her surgery indefinitely as she no longer had a permanent residence or his health insurance.
Firerose is seeking alimony and alleges Cyrus intentionally sabotaged her career in retaliation. She claims the accumulation of verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse led to severe emotional distress, requiring emergency psychological treatment.
Cyrus’s Rebuttal
Cyrus’s attorneys have denied Firerose’s claims. They criticized her for litigating their brief marriage in the media, arguing that her accusations lack credibility, especially since she begged Cyrus to reconcile just two days after he filed for divorce.
In a statement, Cyrus’s lawyers noted that when Cyrus returned to his home, he found a handwritten note from Firerose professing her love and desire to be with him. They argue that if Cyrus were truly guilty of the alleged abuse, Firerose’s actions to reconcile would be inexplicable.
Cyrus’s representatives expressed confusion over Firerose’s claims and reiterated their commitment to setting the record straight. They emphasized that her allegations are inconsistent with her subsequent behavior, casting doubt on the veracity of her statements.
