Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose Finalize Divorce Three Months After Bitter Split

Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose have finalized their divorce three months after their contentious split.

The country singer filed for divorce from his Australian wife of less than a year, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Court documents signed on August 5 reveal that Firerose walked away with no financial settlement.

According to insiders, this outcome was acceptable to her, as she “settled for nothing just to be done with him and get away from the situation.”

Overall, the divorce agreement stipulates that both parties retain what they brought into the marriage. However, Billy Ray has agreed to relinquish any claims to credits or royalties for songs they wrote or published together during their time as a couple.

Billy Ray filed for divorce on May 22, 2024, just days before Firerose, 37, was scheduled to undergo a double mastectomy due to her BRCA gene diagnosis, which increases her risk for certain cancers. During the divorce proceedings, Billy Ray cast doubt on her medical claims by subpoenaing her medical records, and Firerose has since postponed her surgery.

A source stated that had the case gone to trial, Firerose and her team would have presented substantial evidence to counter Billy Ray’s narrative, which they believed was aimed at enhancing his public image. “There is no doubt she would have won the divorce, but it was more important to her to end the smear campaign and find peace as she prepares for her surgery,” the source said.

Billy Ray, on the other hand, has alleged that Firerose married him to gain the Cyrus surname, noting that she changed her name from Hodges—her first husband’s last name—only a couple of weeks ago.

In a statement to DailyMail, Billy Ray expressed relief, calling the entire situation “the most crazy insane scam” he has ever encountered.

He lamented, “It’s unfortunate it played out this way. Not only was it a web of lies that put me in physical danger, it was a matter of the heart. Love is blind—that’s for sure.”
