FC Barcelona have issued an official update on the injury sustained by Pedri during Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League encounter.
In a statement released on Thursday, the club confirmed that midfielder Pedro González López, widely known as Pedri, has been diagnosed with a right hamstring injury following medical examinations carried out earlier in the day. The injury was picked up during Barcelona’s away fixture against Slavia Prague on Wednesday night, and the expected recovery timeline is around one month.
The club statement read:
“Tests conducted this morning have confirmed that first-team player Pedro González ‘Pedri’ has suffered a right hamstring injury, sustained during yesterday’s match against Slavia Prague. His recovery period is expected to be approximately one month.”
Pedri was substituted in the 61st minute at the Fortuna Arena with the score level at 2–2. Despite losing the influential midfielder, Barcelona rallied strongly to seal a 4–2 comeback victory on the night.
That win represented Barcelona’s 29th victory of the 2025/26 season, highlighting their impressive form across all competitions. Pedri has been a key contributor to that success, having started 24 matches this season and scored four goals. Wearing the number eight jersey, the Canary Islands-born star has once again cemented his importance in the Blaugrana midfield, playing a crucial role in dictating tempo and linking play.
Barcelona will now be forced to manage without one of their most vital players as Pedri begins his rehabilitation, with the club set to closely oversee his recovery ahead of a possible return later in the campaign.
