At least six k!lled after gunman opens fire on ‘multiple innocent people’ in Mississippi

At least six people have been k!lled following a series of shootings in eastern Mississippi on Friday night, authorities confirmed.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said the shootings occurred in West Point, near the Alabama border. Sheriff Eddie Scott reported that the victims were k!lled at three separate locations.

In a brief statement shared on Facebook, Scott wrote that “multiple innocent lives” had been lost and confirmed that a suspect had been taken into custody. He added that there was no ongoing threat to the community.

“I ask that you lift our victims and their families in your prayers. Law Enforcement is busy investigating and will release an update as soon as possible,” the sheriff said.

Local station WTVA reported that six people were k!lled. Additional details, including information on the victims and suspect, were not immediately released. Authorities said a news conference would be held on Saturday morning.
