Arsenal suffer huge injury blow that could affect trophy campaign
Arsenal FC have been hit with a significant injury setback that threatens to disrupt their momentum and potentially derail their trophy ambitions for the 2025/26 season.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Noni Madueke is expected to be sidelined for up to two months after suffering a knee injury in the clash against Manchester City. The news comes as a bitter blow for Mikel Arteta’s side, who are already navigating fitness concerns with other key players.
Madueke, who joined Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, has quickly cemented himself as an important figure in Arteta’s attacking plans. With Bukayo Saka recovering from his own fitness struggles, the England international stepped into the right-wing role seamlessly, starting four consecutive matches and even covering on the left flank against Leeds United. His energy, direct play, and creativity had begun to make him a fan favorite at the Emirates.
However, disaster struck during the high-profile showdown with Manchester City. The 23-year-old was visibly limping as he left the pitch at half-time, heading straight for the tunnel. He did not reappear for the second half, with Saka introduced in his place. Early fears of an ACL injury have thankfully been ruled out, but the winger will still miss action until at least late November.
The timing could not be worse for Arsenal. Madueke’s absence means he will miss crucial fixtures, including the highly anticipated reunion with his former club Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, along with pivotal Champions League ties against Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid. These matches could prove decisive in shaping the Gunners’ season, both domestically and in Europe.
While the return of Bukayo Saka offers some relief for Arteta, Madueke’s absence is still a major setback. His versatility, pace, and attacking threat had provided Arsenal with balance and depth in a demanding schedule. Without him, the Gunners risk being overly reliant on Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, a situation that could take its toll as fixtures pile up during the congested autumn period.
This injury does more than weaken the squad in the short term — it poses questions about Arsenal’s ability to sustain their challenge across multiple fronts. With expectations high for silverware this season, losing Madueke for two months strips Arteta of a key weapon and could prove pivotal in determining just how competitive the Gunners remain in the coming weeks.
