Another Premier League club gets the sack letter

Wolverhampton Wanderers have become the latest Premier League club to part ways with their head coach, confirming the dismissal of Vítor Pereira following a disastrous start to the 2025/26 season, in which the team collected only two points from their opening ten matches.

The announcement was made through an official club statement published on Wolves’ website on Sunday, November 2, 2025, marking the end of Pereira’s troubled 11-month spell in charge.

According to the statement, the club expressed regret over the decision but emphasized that a managerial change had become unavoidable due to the team’s ongoing struggles.

“Unfortunately, the start to this season has been a major disappointment,” the club said. “Despite our strong desire to give the head coach time and matches to find improvement, we have reached a point where we must make a change. We thank Vítor and his staff for their commitment and hard work and wish them the very best for the future.”

Wolves’ campaign under Pereira has been nothing short of dismal. The Midlands club currently sit bottom of the Premier League table, eight points adrift of safety, and face a serious threat of relegation to the Championship for the first time since their promotion in the 2017/18 season.

The decision to terminate Pereira’s contract reportedly came in the aftermath of Saturday’s 3–0 defeat to Fulham, which was described by insiders as one of the team’s worst performances during the Portuguese manager’s tenure. That loss extended Wolves’ winless run in the league and highlighted the side’s alarming lack of confidence and cohesion.

Pereira’s time at Molineux began with optimism when he replaced Julen Lopetegui, bringing a reputation for tactical discipline and attacking flair. However, results quickly deteriorated, with Wolves losing eight of their first ten league fixtures this season and failing to win a top-flight match since April 2024.

Ironically, the 57-year-old coach had only recently signed a new three-year contract on September 18, 2025, signaling the club’s earlier faith in his long-term project. His standout moment came during the 2024/25 campaign, when Wolves briefly punched above their weight and Pereira earned a Premier League Manager of the Season nomination — a high point that now feels like a distant memory.

Behind the scenes, the club’s hierarchy is believed to have grown increasingly concerned over the team’s lack of progress, with morale among players reportedly low and fan frustration mounting after a string of poor displays.

Wolves are now expected to begin their search for a new head coach immediately, with the aim of stabilizing the team before the busy winter schedule. According to club sources, an interim manager will be appointed in the coming days while the board evaluates long-term candidates capable of guiding the club out of its current crisis.

As Wolves brace for another challenging chapter, supporters will be hoping that the managerial change can inject fresh motivation and spark a much-needed turnaround in form before it becomes too late to salvage their Premier League status.
