Carlo Ancelotti Unveils First Brazil Squad for 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

Carlo Ancelotti has officially named his first Brazil squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers set for June 2025, marking the start of a new era under the legendary Italian coach.

As excitement builds around the Seleção’s next chapter, Ancelotti’s debut selection blends seasoned veterans, emerging stars, and bold picks that reflect his long-term vision for Brazilian football.

Key names include midfield anchor Casemiro and winger Antony, both pivotal in recent campaigns. Alisson, Brazil’s established first-choice goalkeeper, retains his place, joined by Hugo Souza and Bento.

Signaling a nod to the future, Ancelotti has included promising youngsters such as Andrey Santos, Carlos Augusto, and highly touted Willian Estêvão—the 17-year-old Palmeiras sensation nicknamed “Messinho,” known for his speed and dazzling technique.

The defensive lineup mixes youth and experience, with fresh faces Wesley and Vanderson joining stalwarts like Marquinhos, Danilo, and Alex Sandro. In midfield, there’s a strong core of experience—Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães, and Ederson—balanced with the energy of Andreas Pereira, Gerson, and Andrey Santos.

The attacking front is rich with talent: Vinícius Júnior, Gabriel Martinelli, Richarlison, Raphinha, and Matheus Cunha provide a mix of flair, work rate, and goal threat. The inclusion of Estêvão highlights Ancelotti’s openness to integrating youth early into the senior setup.
