After weeks of speculation, Chelsea have officially confirmed the signing of Argentina international Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United. Born in Madrid, Garnacho spent his formative years in the youth setups of Getafe and Atlético Madrid before making the switch to Manchester United at just 16 years old in October 2020. His talent quickly caught the eye at academy level, and within two years he earned his senior debut in April 2022—ironically against Chelsea—just before his 18th birthday.
The young winger began to make serious strides in the 2022/23 season, breaking into United’s first-team squad with 34 appearances across all competitions. He netted five goals, including a dramatic stoppage-time winner away at Fulham, which also happened to be his maiden Premier League goal.
By the following season, 2023/24, Garnacho had cemented his place as one of United’s most exciting young players. He featured in 36 league matches, scoring seven times, with highlights including his spectacular goal at Goodison Park and a brilliant brace during the thrilling 4-3 clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
