Family of Five Killed in Russian Drone Attack

Family of Five Killed in Russian Drone Attack – A Ukrainian prosecutor, along with her husband and three young children, tragically lost their lives in a Russian drone attack on the northeastern city of Kharkiv.

The assault, targeting an oil depot, resulted in widespread fires and significant damage to residential houses. The regional prosecutor, identified as Olha Putyatina, and her children, Oleksiy, Mykhailo, and Pavlo, ages 7, 3, and 10 months respectively, were reportedly held hostage by the fire inside their home.

In addition to the prosecutor’s family, an elderly couple on the same street lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries in Kharkiv. The drone strikes, occurring late on Friday, caused numerous fires, consuming at least 15 residential houses in the eastern part of the city.

The Ukrainian air force reported intercepting and downing 23 out of 31 Russian-launched drones that targeted both the Kharkiv and Odesa regions. In Odesa, four people were injured, and industrial facilities, cars, and port infrastructure suffered damage in the drone attack.

Kharkiv, a city under regular attack since the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022, experienced fuel leakage due to the striking of an oil depot. Firefighters and rescuers worked tirelessly to extinguish fires and clear debris throughout the night.

Russia, as of now, has not responded to requests for comments, maintaining that its forces do not intentionally target civilian sites. Kharkiv has faced repeated assaults in recent weeks, and the city has been a significant target since the invasion began.

Russia, via telegram, claimed to have repelled a Ukrainian drone attack on “civilian transport ships” in the southwestern area of the Black Sea. The defense ministry stated that one Ukrainian naval drone was destroyed, and the rest were disabled through artillery fire or electronic warfare, with no reported damage to Russian civilian or military vessels.
